Poem: ‘Deserting land, we’re bearing naval’

stones-2243313_1920 (2)Deserting land, we’re bearing naval,
Renting seas ’til the mandate runs dry;
Galled olfactories unable to scent the rank
Speed of change. Focused at fifty knots, wave-
bouncing, greeting inhabitants of similar greed.
Seeking long-reaped shelter (or last-minute gradu-
ation to the skies).
